"A man should make you feel safe, not afraid," she wrote.

She continued explaining her personal experience of being in a physically abusive relationship. "I remember being so afraid to speak cuz I never knew when that person would be in a particular mood and I could maybe say one wrong thing that would get me hit," wrote Minaj.

She added that the difference now is that she feels "lifted up, safe, appreciated & unconditionally loved."

"But first I had to learn how to love MYSELF," she added. "This isn't about judging. We judge too much. Life them up."
