NIP stepped up with REZ back in action

Ninjas in Pyjamas are off to as good of a start in their LAN debut with Isak "?isak?" Fahlén as they could have hoped, tallying wins over ENCE and HEROIC to end day one of YaLLa Compass with a 2-0 record atop Group A.

Alejandro "?alex?" Masanet called a masterclass T side on Vertigo to power his side to ease past ENCE 13-6 in their opener, thanks in part to Fredrik "?REZ?" Sterner's opening frags, and then stepped up with crucial entries alongside multi-fragging from Artem "?r1nkle?" Moroz on Ancient to deny HEROIC a late comeback, 13-10.

The Swedish-majority team were hamstrung at ESL Pro League Season 19, their first event with star signing r1nkle, after REZ missed the event due to illness and the team was forced to use Young Ninjas player Kacper "?xKacpersky?" Gabara as a stand-in.

That was on top of already fielding Maoz "?BluePho3nix?" Paz as a temporary fifth, and the setbacks proved too large to overcome as the team just missed out on the playoffs with a loss to FlyQuest in the Last Chance bracket.

After their elimination in Malta, Ninjas in Pyjamas announced the addition of isak to finally bring their roster back up to full strength and complete a rebuild that kicked off in March as they looked to turn around a dismal period of results.

The new roster's first matches in RES Regional Series 4 Europe didn't go as expected, but they have looked far more composed on LAN with some excellent tactical play to overcome HEROIC and their fragging core now set up to shine.

Two big scalps on day one leave Ninjas in Pyjamas in a solid position heading into day two, but both ENCE and HEROIC recently made changes, too, and might still be trying to gel. That won't be the case in Ninjas in Pyjamas's next matches against Astralis and The MongolZ, which could well decide who tops Group A and heads straight to the semi-finals.
