Do you have a family story you’ve always wanted to write?
Discover Nikkei is now taking submissions for its fourth Nikkei Chronicles, and this time, the theme is “Nikkei Family: Memories, Traditions, and Values.” Submissions may include personal essays, memoirs, academic papers, book reviews and other prose. The deadline is Sept. 30 at 6 p.m. PST.
All submissions will be published online, as long as they meet the project guidelines. From there, the “Nikkei Family” editorial committee will choose one favorite entry from each of Discover Nikkei’s site languages (English, Japanese, Spanish and Portuguese), and readers will vote on an additional favorite. Each favorite will be translated into all three of the other site languages.
Some questions for inspiration, from Discover Nikkei, include: “What are your special family traditions? What family values did your parents teach you? Is your family concentrated in one city, state, or region, or are they spread all over the country, or all over the world?”
