COSTA MESA — An 84-year-old woman reported as a “critical missing person” on July 4 was located a few hours later.
Toyoko Higa Augustus, an Alzheimer’s patient, walked away from her home on Nevada Avenue in Costa Mesa around 12:20 p.m., according to the Costa Mesa Police Department. A bloodhound and a helicopter assisted in the search.
At 5 p.m., the department reported, “Ms. Augustus was located and her family has been notified. We are relieved she was found before the fireworks expected tonight.”
No further details were provided.
