If there's one thing we know about Spotify users,?? ?? ?? it's that they want their music tastes analyzed. Looking into every aspect and trend of your music streaming habits has become a favorite pastime, with a growing list of sites that turn your listening data into visualizations of everything from your top artists to your most-listened.
Joining these tools is n-gen, the latest viral art generator that examines your Spotify data and provides you with shareable art.
"See how your listening habits have evolved over time, and how your favorite artists and genres have changed by creating new artwork from your favorite playlists and your listening habits," explains the website. The platform, currently in open-beta, is dedicated to creating "dynamic art" based on individual Spotify habits.
With various art templates and customizations available, n-gen is ideal for the creative and visually-inclined. Here's a quick guide on how to use it yourself. And as always, remember to be wary about sharing your personal data.
Step 1: Head to ngenart.com.
Once you're on the website, click on the green button that reads "Create with Spotify".
Step 2: Click on "Connect Spotify".
You'll then be redirected to log into your Spotify account. Note that n-gen will be allowed to access and view your Spotify account data and activity.
Step 3: From here, click "Create Now!"
Step 4: Choose the art style you want.
n-gen offers different styles: DNA, top-ten, bloom, and chords. Under each category, you find a bunch of customizations: what kind of Spotify data you want to use (recently played, top tracks), what color background you want, etc. FYI, the DNA visualization is particularly fun — and includes a Barbie themed background!
Step 5: Save your artwork.
You can save your Spotify visualization. Click "save artwork" or "save wallpaper".
Step 6: Learn more about your data.
Under each artwork, you can scroll down and learn more about why your visualization looks the way it is. Under "Chords", for example, n-gen will explain the theme, energy, pattern of the artwork depending on your musical tastes.
