GARDENA — The Gardena Valley Japanese Cultural Institute will present an afternoon of mystery, poetry and community with authors Naomi Hirahara and Amy Uyematsu on Saturday, May 16, from 2 to 4 p.m. at GVJCI’s Nisei Veterans Memorial Hall, 1964 W. 162nd St. in Gardena.
Hirahara will discuss her newest mystery novel, “Grave on Grand Avenue,” as well as topics such as community, identity and writing.
Uyematsu will discuss her newest poetry collection, “The Yellow Door.”
This book event is free and open to the public. Heritage Source book vendors will also be at the event; both authors’ works will be available for purchase. There will be refreshments and opportunities to ask the authors questions and get your book signed.
